IN PERSON CLASSES AVAILABLE
Attend an in person event hosted by Simply Lettered Studio or gather your own group and let’s have a private calligraphy party! Available in the Uintah Basin and to travel throughout Utah and Eastern Colorado. If you can’t make an in person class, check out the monthly subscription kits with video lessons!
monoline lettering
This class is designed to be the very base of your calligraphy and lettering journey. We will be using regular everyday tools to learn how to create letters. Calligraphy is made up of basic strokes, so the majority of the class will be learning those strokes, and then combining them to make letters and then connecting letters to words. The course works up to creating fauxligraphy with your regular writing tools. The class ends with a project putting your new lettering skills to test! Typically a 2 hour course.
Brush lettering
This course is for those who are interested in the modern brush calligraphy. Previous classes are not required. We will review the basic calligraphy strokes and spend time getting use to using a brush pen. We will focus more on connecting letters and words. This class also provides time for an introduction to layouts, flourishing, blending and other introductory level calligraphy skills. We’ll end by creating a colorful quote with your new brush pens. Typically a 3 hour course.
Pointed Pen calligraphy
This class is for those ready for the challenge. Previous classes are not required, but can be helpful. This course is set up as a small group lesson followed by individual instruction as I rotate through the attendees helping with form and troubleshooting. I’ll spend the first portion of the class teaching about nibs, nib prep, inks, ink prep, oblique and straight holders, how to set them up, how to hold them, and a bit of the history of calligraphy. I’ll be showing you how to form several different minuscule (lowercase) letters in a modern format. Typically a 3 hour course.
group and youth parties
Grab some friends, good food and drinks, provide the location and I will bring all the supplies! Any of the above courses can be taught at your next group party. The end of class project can be tailored specifically to your group. The host receives the ticket for free or can discount attendees tickets with it. Group parties should be at least 4 attendees within the Uintah Basin and 12 or more attendees on the Wasatch Front and Aspen, Colorado and surrounding areas. Condensed 1 hour mini courses available for youth groups in any of the above classes.
private lessons
Private lessons are great for those who are wanting specific individualized instruction and more in depth concepts than those taught in my regular courses. Private lessons can be for 1-3 people. You can pay by lesson or for a 6 week bundle. Lessons start at 90 minutes.
